These brief few days have passed by so quickly! Thursday was just a normal day, since no one in our house was transferring. It was also probably my most productive Transfer Day, as we had decent things scheduled all day.

We have been helping one of the people we teach, Top, clean up his house. I think I have mentioned about this service activity before. We've already put in close to 50 man hours cleaning his house and it is nowhere near finished. This most recent time we went and  attacked the second floor, containing his untouched-for-5-months Mom's room and the adjourning hallway. We did our very best to try to help, but WOW it really hasn't been touched (there was fruit and food laying about). There is a change happening within Top as well; he is now more willing to throw things out or donate them, and he didn't keep any of the stuff we cleaned out! And his many fullllll bags of recyclables that he has been holding and waiting around for a guy to come by and buy them off of him are finally out!

We also had our ward's Christmas party! That was a blast. There were a few musical performances, of which the missionaries did 2. We watched the Nativity. Then we moved on to food! My favorite were these small sushi-sized wraps with lettuce and meat. I had so many with the delectable dressing. There also just happened to be a strawberry cheesecake with ice cream screaming for me to serve the people and eat it. So I was FORCED to help out. I have been exercising though so it is all fine and I am on track to be in top shape in 6 months.  

Santa also came and visited! Our bishop came out and gave out some gifts! Except he didn't really want to do it and he is Chinese so it was hilarious because he came out saying Merry Christmas in an outfit that didn't really fit him walking around a few times straight up CHUCKING littles snacks and candy at people. They did play some fun Christmas songs which brought some energy.

Our Sunday highlight was participating in the confirmation and bestowal of the Gift of the Holy Ghost for Gan and Saran. President Evans and Elder Khanakhum were present and gave some fantastic talks. Our "kids" disappointed us by not coming to church.  We ended up going and visiting some of them and have great heartfelt conversations.  It appears they just need more time to really decide what they want to do.

That is my 3 day update due to when transfer fell! Today for Pday, we are going Christmas shopping because I am making sure we have great fun and because we have 2 white elephants gift exchanges and a secret santa gift. Then of course we have our weekly board game rendezvous.

I don't know why or for what reason, but the Lord has decided to bless us with a few miraculous days. We have been given more than plenty of food in times of need, people have stopped  us  and asked us about religion and English class (which is growing so fast!).  Some of the people we teach that we have been working with have opened up their hearts and are committed to change and life is just amazing! It still hasn't gone through my soul that I will be leaving Thailand next week. It causes anxiety in the moments I think about it, but I have found myself so much- discovered who I am and what makes me happy- that it is hard to think of myself not being here. In discussing zone conference from the previous Saturday, Sister Christensen said that we can't truthfully love missionary work without loving all of the aspects of missionary work. One of the least desirable parts of being a missionary is going out and inviting or tracking for large periods of time. To us, it is highly ineffective, it is physically draining, emotionally trying, we face much rejection and we often do hours of it at a single time. How fortunate that we were able to try out loving the part for a 5 hour block on Wednesday 555. Oh (Chiang) Mai, time goes so fast!

October 2nd, 2017 4 months, 2nd week Thailand, Bangkok, Chaing Mai  District samuel.montague @myldsmail.net (I would love to hear from you) On Monday, we went to an Family Home Evening (FHE) at the same family who we visited in the hospital. This time, however, it was for Shish-kebabs and หมูกระทะ (muugratha- the meat buffet thing I had last week). The food was fantastic and it was a great fellow-shipping opportunity as we had nonmembers and recent converts there! During district meetings on Tuesdays, my District Leader (and companion) likes to start off with something fun. This week, he choose to have us do another scripture chase, which surprise- I won! Even more exciting than that though, are the airplane tickets we bought (and paid for at 7/11- you can literally pay for anything and any bill there).  On Thursday I have to go to Bangkok for my visa renewal, and nothing else would get me there early enough (on the downside, I arrive  1am ).
