Last Week of the MTC

Image
We concluded last week with a beautiful devotional by Brother Wright and Sister Janett Thurston (I'm not really sure who they are, but I enjoyed it!). We've continued the same 5 teaching experiences.  ก บ  (Gob) has been interesting. Sometimes it seems like he's moving forward, other times like he's just shut off to our message. Our teacher, Bro. Tirrell (who portrays  ก บ  for us in lessons) says this was his hardest investigator he ever taught- and he taught him when he was a year out on his mission, and fairly proficient with the language. So imagine us struggling with it, having a year lesson of learning the language and teaching. But it's all good. Bro. Tirrell says he's never been  ก บ  before, and he was thrown off when he gave us who he did (teachers pray extensively to know who to "be" as our investigator before we come). In our Wednesday lesson with  ก บ,  he was actually drunk which surprised all of us, so we just retaught him the lesson,

Day 49 July 11, 2017 Tues Provo, UT This past week, we were basically dropped by one of our investigators. Our teacher reviewed with us our performance after one of our lessons and let us know that realistically, we wouldn't have been invited back. We talked about how we had a rough start, but that we have grown and gotten much better.  Ultimately we decided to pick up a new investigator amongst our other options- so we are now teaching Kali (rough English translation). She's already a Christian, and though we've only taught her once, she's very enthusiastic about Jesus, and is thrilled to learn more! We are very excited to keep teaching her in the short time we have left (12 days and a few hours, but who's counting?)! Our new Thai and Vietnamese missionaries arrived  on Wednesday - 40 new people. Initially, we were so excited for them! We had a small freak out when they started coming as we realized some might move into one of our rooms.  If you remember ea

Happy Fourth of Thai-ly!

Day 42 July 4, 2017 Tues Provo, UT So I read this amazing document this week called the Ricciardi letter- I highly recommend it to those about to or are on a mission. It is very inspirational and has motivated me to reevaluate how I am performing as a missionary.  It pushed me to be introspective and how and what I can improve to be a better missionary. During this week for one of our teaching activities, my companion and I tried something new with our harder investigator,  กบ ( G òb). Since he likes to help missionaries practice their Thai, we asked if we could just practice going through the lessons with him (which we haven't been doing, since he's gone through them like twice already). He agreed, and we've started making some good progress on the flow of the lesson! We had a class instruction on asking inspired questions and letting the investigators lead the direction of discussion. I am excited to start really trying to ask deeper questions and (struggle to
