SURPRISE

January 9th, 2018
7 months, 3rd week
Thailand, Bangkok, Chiang Mai District

samuel.montague@myldsmail.net (I would love to hear from you)

We've been having several get togethers because the senior couple, the Barlows who've been here for 2 years, are now leaving. They've been in this area for a long time and are really loved by the families and wards here.  so we had several Family Home Evenings in their honor and ward parties to honor them and send them off. That was a lot of fun and a chance to get together with the members.

We've been experiencing a lot of exciting teaching opportunities this past week and a half. We switched off with the zone leaders this past Monday; which is always good as I get opportunities to observe their approach and be part of teaching investigators.  We've just seen some solid results for our hard work here. We've seen an increase of new investigators, we've gotten a lot of solid referrals from members (blessings), and we have a number of investigators who committed to being baptized and are progressing so nicely! Even some of the less active members we have been working with have been coming back to activity, and members have been strengthened.

For Pday, we rode elephants in Lampang last week, which was a unique experience that was fun! I got to participate in one of the shows and played a game with an elephant. We took so many pictures with them, fed them, and had a great time!

Because tomorrow is transfer day, today is a day to prep for that. We have some very surprising transfer results. SURPRISE I am staying in Chiang Mai for a 4th transfer (6 months) with Elder Holland. SURPRISE one of the zone leaders in our district, Elder Hoopes, is going to be an Assistant to the President. SURPRISE my trainer/พ่อ Elder Kekauoha is coming to replace him. SURPRISE the leaving AP is going to open Phuket for 2 transfers, then they're re-closing it (to establish a branch). So crazy.

That's a very brief overview of our week and a half. Honestly, it's been filled with miracles in meeting people, in getting new people, in people progressing, in the work of salvation of souls.

My commitment for the week is very similar to something we've started doing with members. Read 1 Nephi 11:1. When was the last time that you received personal revelation in your daily personal study? Because you could be receiving some everyday. There are 3 things we learn from that verse that we need if we are to have our own Nephi experience. Make sure you do those 3 things, then write an email to me and let me know how it went. Hit me up whenever it happens (even if you don't read this post for 2 months, I promise I will still welcome the email.).
Bye and love you!
